A codified set of trade terms can provide clarity between buyer and seller, reducing misunderstandings that can hamper successful trade.

With this in mind, USFEC members collaborated to develop a set of trade rules to help facilitate contracts in the international forage industry. First adopted in May 2014, the U.S. Forage Export Council Trade Terms was updated in December of 2025. The document includes definitions of key trade terms and serves as a voluntary reference for companies selling and buying forage.
